OBJECTIVES<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

ORION aims to enable students to discover and practice research. It works to develop a community of students capable of tackling tomorrow\u2019s challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n

Exposure to research takes different forms: dedicated courses<\/a>, excellence practicals<\/a> on key LUE platforms, thematic research schools, innovation workshops<\/a>, multidisciplinary student-researcher clubs<\/a>, internships in university laboratories, international immersion in the research structures of our academic partners abroad; and is supported by dedicated funding (excellence scholarships<\/a>, internship grants<\/a> and mobility support<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LORRAINE UNIVERSIT\u00c9 D\u2019EXCELLENCE<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

ORION supports Lorraine Universit\u00e9 d\u2019Excellence in developing the international leadership of the Lorraine site in engineering around 6 economic and societal challenges: materials value chain, sustainable management of natural resources and the environment, future energy and energy transition, digital trust, health and support for aging, knowledge engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n

LAUREATE \u201cINVESTING FOR THE FUTURE PROGRAM\u201d<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

ORION was selected on July 1st<\/sup>, 2020 as part of the call for projects \u201cStructuring training through research in initiatives of excellence\u201d (SFRI) of the \u201cFrance 2030\u201d Investing for the Future Program. With \u20ac18.5 million over 9 years, it will raise awareness and train students in research by offering them a more diverse environment.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n

PROGRAM STRUCTURE<\/h3>\n\n\n
\n\n

ORION is structured as a progression from discovering research (2nd<\/sup> year), then practicing it (from 3rd<\/sup> year to Master\u2019s level), to becoming researchers (PhD). But ORION\u2019s main distinctives are, on the one hand, the emphasis on research practice and, on the other, the ambition to mix audiences (Faculties and Engineering Schools), levels (from 2nd<\/sup> year to doctorate), disciplines, and nationalities to create a student community on a research trajectory.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n
