Discover our dedicated schemes!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-7720\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">DrEAM, a mobility scheme for PhD candidates<\/h2><div id=\"ac-7720\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>The DrEAM program (Doctor, Explore and Achieve More!) supports PhD candidates from the University of Lorraine in their international mobility projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Open to all disciplines, it provides funding of up to \u20ac5,000 to support a 2- to 6-month research stay in a research unit abroad. In 2024, 49 grants were awarded, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to nearly 250 since the launch of the I-SITE. Numerous testimonials highlight the program\u2019s highly positive impact, both scientifically and personally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-b7683270 gb-headline-text\">Tangible outcomes for research and the academic community<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Since its launch in 2019, several hundred PhD candidates have benefited from the DrEAM program. They have been able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>immerse themselves in new cultural and scientific environments,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>develop skills and expand their networks,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>contribute to high-level collaborative projects,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>enhance the international visibility of their work and of the Lorraine I-SITE<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>By enabling future researchers to explore, discover, and achieve more, DrEAM actively contributes to the scientific outreach and international attractiveness of the Lorraine site and its partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/doctorat.univ-lorraine.fr\/fr\/international\/dream\">Dream&rsquo;s program details<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-7721\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Widen Horizons, international immersion for our researchers<\/h2><div id=\"ac-7721\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>The Widen Horizons program, created under the Lorraine Initiative of Excellence, supports staff members of the Lorraine site wishing to undertake an extended immersion (at least 3 months) in an international scientific environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With financial support ranging from \u20ac6,000 to \u20ac12,000, it fosters the development of long-term collaborations, the acquisition of new expertise, and the international visibility of research conducted in Lorraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A unique opportunity<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By promoting extended stays in high-level scientific environments, Widen Horizons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>offers Lorraine staff members an international experience that is structuring for their career paths,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>stimulates the creation of lasting collaborations,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>contributes to the international visibility of the Lorraine I-SITE<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Since its launch, nearly 70 researchers and teacher-researchers have benefited from this scheme, enriching their career paths and giving new momentum to their scientific projects.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-7722\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">IRP: strengthening our international partnerships<\/h2><div id=\"ac-7722\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>To foster structured international partnerships, the Lorraine I-SITE supports the creation of <strong>International Research Partnerships<\/strong> (IRP). The principle is simple: <strong>a laboratory at the University of Lorraine<\/strong> teams up with <strong>a laboratory abroad<\/strong> around a common project. Together, they share talents, ideas, and resources \u2014 like a <strong>laboratory without walls<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each year, <strong>up to three IRPs<\/strong> are launched for a duration of <strong>four years<\/strong>. These partnerships benefit from <strong>dedicated support<\/strong>: a <strong>joint doctoral contract<\/strong>, the regular hosting of <strong>visiting professors<\/strong>, and <strong>seed funding<\/strong> to kick-start collaborations. The goal: <strong>build lasting ties<\/strong>, foster <strong>mobility<\/strong>, and generate visible results at the international level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In short:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A <strong>pair of laboratories<\/strong> (UL + foreign partner) around a <strong>shared project<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Targeted resources<\/strong> to start quickly and effectively (joint PhD, visiting stays, seed budget);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>multi-annual framework<\/strong> to anchor cooperation in the long term;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tangible outcomes<\/strong>: publications, joint training, expanded networks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-bd8b2f8b gb-headline-text\">Prof@Lorraine: hosting international researchers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the creation of the I-SITE, 30 researchers from foreign universities have benefited from the <strong>Prof@Lorraine<\/strong> scheme (funding of invited months).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-7723\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">The Booster program: co-constructed and recognized research actions<\/h2><div id=\"ac-7723\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>The Lorraine I-SITE has developed a policy of <strong>targeted partnerships<\/strong> aligned with site priorities, through the <strong>BOOSTER program<\/strong>. The goal is to <strong>avoid dispersing resources<\/strong> and a \u201cone-size-fits-all\u201d approach, in favor of a <strong>limited portfolio of strong alliances<\/strong> in research and training.<br>These partnerships involve <strong>co-constructed research actions recognized by the institutions<\/strong> (ideally in the form of a <strong>joint laboratory<\/strong>), supported on a multi-annual basis: <strong>research stays, master\u2019s internships, joint PhD theses<\/strong>, etc.<br><br>To date, the I-SITE supports <strong>three strategic partnerships<\/strong> with <strong>Tohoku University<\/strong> (Japan), <strong>Universiti Sains Malaysia<\/strong> (Malaysia), and <strong>Universit\u00e9 Internationale de Rabat<\/strong> (Morocco). In all three cases, projects are <strong>jointly selected<\/strong> based on criteria of <strong>scientific excellence<\/strong> and <strong>partnership strengthening<\/strong>. <strong>Nearly \u20ac1M<\/strong> has been invested in <strong>2023\u20132024<\/strong>, involving <strong>16 laboratories<\/strong>, including <strong>3 in the social sciences and humanities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Boosting our European momentum<\/em><\/strong><br>Beyond these agreements, the BOOSTER program has supported the University of Lorraine\u2019s membership in the <strong>EURECA-PRO European alliance<\/strong>, dedicated to <strong>responsible consumption and production (SDG 12)<\/strong>, in line with the <strong>societal challenges<\/strong> of the Lorraine I-SITE. This membership aims to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>facilitate the <strong>integration<\/strong> of the University of Lorraine into a <strong>European education ecosystem<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>accelerate the academic community\u2019s <strong>familiarization with Europe<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>initiate <strong>thematic research communities<\/strong> (EURECA-PRO Flagships).<br>Support has taken the form of <strong>upstream measures<\/strong> (recruitment, <strong>mobility funding<\/strong>) and, since membership, the funding of <strong>two doctoral contracts <\/strong>with a partner from the alliance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-7724\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">International doctoral contracts: fostering the global circulation of knowledge<\/h2><div id=\"ac-7724\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>The Lorraine Initiative of Excellence embodies a strong ambition: to establish Lorraine as a key player in research, education, and innovation worldwide. At the heart of this ambition, support for doctoral contracts is a cornerstone of a proactive policy to strengthen scientific visibility and international cooperation on a lasting basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lorraine I-SITE thus promotes a structured and balanced model of collaboration with its international partners, where doctoral contracts go beyond one-off exchanges and are rooted in solid, recognized institutional dynamics. This scheme fosters the development of sustainable partnerships, combining shared resources, expertise, and ambitions to drive excellent research projects with both scientific and societal impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-0ba35221 gb-headline-text\">A strategic lever for Lorraine\u2019s international visibility<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The doctoral policy promoted by the Lorraine I-SITE reflects a holistic vision: encouraging the emergence of talent, supporting the creation and dissemination of knowledge in an international context, while stimulating innovation capacity and the attractiveness of the territory.
