The European networks in which the Université de Lorraine and the Lorraine site are involved are very diverse, some of them thematic, while some others are cross-disciplinary. These networks do not necessarily have the same purpose or the same impact at European level. They correspond to Lorraine site themes, and have a strong impact on political orientation and European programming.
The official networks
Official networks have a direct influence on European programming through official procedures for reporting information to the European Commission. They are therefore relevant for influencing funding programs and trying to match them with the activities of the Lorraine site.
This group includes, among others:
- National Thematic Groups (GTN) – which contribute to the official French position on both calls for projects (via the Program Committee) and European program guidelines;
- European Partnerships – these include partnerships associated with Horizon Europe (institutionalised, co-programmed and co-financed partnerships). They help define the roadmaps and calls for projects proposed by these partnerships.
The informal networks
Informal networks do not have a direct influence on European programming, but are involved at a more strategic level in European orientations and policies, and are a source of proposals for programming. These networks are therefore a useful way of participating in the development of future R&I guidelines at European level.
This diverse group is mainly composed of thematic or transversal associations or representations. These networks have an influence on European orientations and policies, as they represent very broad communities of European players and propose lobbying actions.
