Also called \u00ab\u00a0S\u00e9curit\u00e9 Sociale or Assurance Maladie\u00a0\u00bb, this public service covers <strong>a percentage <\/strong>of your healthcare costs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">So if you are a <strong>citizen <\/strong>of a country <strong>outside the European Union<\/strong> (EU) <strong>registered in France, <\/strong>you can benefit from French Health Insurance. The EHIC is individual, nominative, <strong>free<\/strong> and its <strong>period of validity varies depending on<\/strong> the country issuing it. Remember to <strong>request it from your health insurer <\/strong>in your country of residence <strong>before <\/strong>your departure. Then your healthcare costs in France will continue to be covered by the health insurer in your usual country of residence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students who are<strong> citizens of Quebec : <\/strong>you must ask for <strong>Form SE 401-Q-102 bis<\/strong> or <strong>SE 401-Q-106<\/strong> <strong>in order to be exempted  <\/strong>from registration for French Health Insurance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students with<strong> short-term visas<\/strong> : you must <strong>take out a health insurance policy that is valid for France <\/strong>in your country of residence <strong>before <\/strong>your departure. <strong>You cannot be covered <\/strong>by French Health Insurance <strong>for a 3-month period<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>International trainees <\/strong>in France <strong>: <\/strong>you must <strong>take out a health insurance policy that is valid for France <\/strong>in your country of residence <strong>before <\/strong>your departure.  <strong>You cannot benefit <\/strong>from French Health Insurance <strong>as you will not be registered<\/strong> in an educational institution <strong>in France<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-welcome-5-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-welcome-5-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">health insurance registration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">You must register <strong>online <\/strong>on the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/etudiant-etranger.ameli.fr\/#\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ameli<\/a> <\/strong>website with the <strong>following<\/strong> <strong>supporting douments<\/strong> : <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Registration Certificate (delivered when you register at the University).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Valid passport <strong>and <\/strong>entry visa for France.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Birth Certificate with filiation (or any civil status document drawn up by a consulate) <strong>or<\/strong> family record booklet and, where appropriate, a marriage certificate <strong>if<\/strong> you are coming as a family with your spouse and\/or child(ren). <strong>Depending on your nationality<\/strong>, this document must be  <strong>translated <\/strong>into French by a <strong>sworn<\/strong> translator.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proof of address in  France (lease, gas, electricity or Internet bill, housing insurance certificate, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your bank details (RIB) : <strong>Important:<\/strong> we recommend that you open a bank account in France.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-03507b9a\">\n\n<p class=\"has-base-3-color has-text-color\"><strong>Please note!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-base-3-color has-text-color\"><strong>You can register in 2 stages<\/strong>. If you do, do not forget to  <strong>include <\/strong> your certificate confirming validation of your long-stay visa valid as a residence permit  (VLS-TS) in your application, or your residence card <strong>as soon as<\/strong> you have obtained it. <strong>Otherwise <\/strong>your application will remain blocked at the first stage and you will not be able to benefit from French Health
