Nor do you need to apply for a residence permit once you are in France. <strong>All you need is a valid identity card <\/strong>or <strong>passport.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you have an EU Long-Term Resident&rsquo;s Permit (CRLD-UE). <strong>BUT <\/strong>you will have to <strong>request <\/strong>a <strong>residence card when you arrive in France<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you have a \u00ab\u00a0student\u00a0\u00bb Residence Card delivered in the context of a mobility program by&nbsp;another European Union State, you must <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.univ-lorraine.fr\/welcome\/en\/coming-to-france-with-a-student-mobility-program-residence-permit-delivered-by-another-european-union-eu-country\/\">follow the \u00ab\u00a0Notification of the mobility in France of a foreign student authorized to stay in another EU Member State\u00a0\u00bb procedure.<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-da65b27b\">\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/france-visas.gouv.fr\/en\/web\/france-visas\/home\"><strong>Check if you need a visa<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-welcome-1-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-welcome-1-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-grid-wrapper gb-grid-wrapper-4fb5fd10\">\n<div class=\"gb-grid-column gb-grid-column-6718a07b\"><div class=\"gb-container gb-container-6718a07b\">\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<h3 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-f39b3e65 gb-headline-text\">AND AFTER THE visa?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to <strong>obtain the right to <strong>stay<\/strong><\/strong> in France, you must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.univ-lorraine.fr\/welcome\/en\/validating-a-long-stay-visa-valid-as-a-residence-permit-vls-ts\/\"><strong>validate your visa <\/strong>if you have a Long-Stay Visa valid as a Residence Permit<\/a> (<strong>VLS-TS<\/strong>) <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.univ-lorraine.fr\/welcome\/en\/residence-permits-for-students\/\"><strong>request a residence permit<\/strong> if you have<\/a>: \n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a Temporary Long-Stay Visa (<strong>VLS-T<\/strong>) with the <strong>reference<\/strong> \u00ab\u00a0Residence Card to request upon arrival in France\u00a0\u00bb<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a short-term \u00ab\u00a0<strong>competitive exam<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb visa<strong> <\/strong>and <strong>you have passed the exam for which <\/strong>the visa was delivered to you<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a long-stay \u00ab\u00a0<strong>school-going minor<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb visa and <strong>you are 18 years old<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-8cf370e7 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<p><strong>Important<\/strong>! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The \u00ab\u00a0student\u00a0\u00bb&nbsp;<strong>Temporary Long Stay Visa&nbsp;<\/strong>(aka&nbsp;<strong>VLS-T<\/strong>)<strong>&nbsp;with the reference \u00ab\u00a0temporary waiver of residence permit\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong>&nbsp;enables you to stay in France<strong>&nbsp;from 4  to 6 months maximum<\/strong>&nbsp;in order to attend a short course. It acts as temporary authorization to stay in France. So you do not need to request a residence card as long as the visa is valid. <strong>When <\/strong>this type of visa <strong>expires<\/strong>, <strong>you must return to your country of residence<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-08880c08\">\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-8cf370e7 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It is <strong>very important <\/strong>to arrive with the \u00ab\u00a0RIGHT\u00a0\u00bb visa, as once you are in France, you will not be able to request:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>modification of the status on your visa<strong> <\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a residence permit on the basis of a tourist visa<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an extension of a tourist visa<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>=&gt;<\/strong> If you arrive in France with a tourist visa and you want to study or carry out a placement there, you will have to return to your usual country of residence to request a \u00ab\u00a0<strong>student<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb or \u00ab\u00a0<strong>trainee<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb visa.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"gb-grid-column gb-grid-column-c1348b5e\"><div class=\"gb-container wp-container-core-group-is-layout-8cf370e7 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-8cf370e7 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-8cf370e7 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group you<strong> must <\/strong>follow the<strong> Campus France procedure<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are coming in the context of a<strong> placement<\/strong>: log on to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/france-visas.gouv.fr\/en\/web\/france-visas\/\">F<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/france-visas.gouv.fr\/en\/web\/france-visas\/\"><strong>rance visa<\/strong><\/a> to make your request online <strong>or <\/strong>contact the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.diplomatie.gouv.fr\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <strong>French Consulate<\/strong><\/a> in your usual country of residence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are <strong>admitted in the context of a cooperation agreement<\/strong> (without applying via the <strong>Campus France<\/strong> platform): <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/pastel.diplomatie.gouv.fr\/etudesenfrance\/dyn\/public\/authentification\/login.html?codeLangue=EN\">create an EEF account<\/a><\/strong>, choosing the <strong>\u00ab\u00a0I have already been accepted\u00a0\u00bb category <\/strong>in order to benefit from the pre-consular procedure. <strong>IMPORTANT<\/strong>: If you do not take this step, your student visa risks being
