If you are a citizen <\/strong>of a European Union<\/strong> (EU) Member State, the European Economic Area (EEA)<\/strong> or Switzerland<\/strong>, you don’t need a residence permit<\/strong> to study for a PhD, carry out research or work in France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are a citizen <\/strong>of a NON-EU<\/strong> country, the residence permit<\/strong> is mandatory<\/strong>.
Once you are in France, depending on the type of visa<\/strong> you have been issued, you must carry out residence formalities<\/strong> in order to be authorized to live in the country as a student or researcher.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

If you have a residence permit in another European country, it doesn’t authorize you to stay in France for longer than 3 months<\/strong>. You will have to request a residence permit in France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a first request<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
