Université de Lorraine is launching a call for applications to fund excellence scholarships for its student community interested in engaging in research. Around 50 scholarships will be offered for the 2026–2027 academic year.

Amount
The excellence scholarships fund one M2 academic year consisting of the first semester of coursework followed by the research internship.
The financial support for the academic year amounts to €7,000, to which is added an internship stipend (5 or 6 months) of approximately €600 to €650 per month (calculated from the French Social Security ceiling).
Conditions
- Be admitted to an M2 – research-oriented track – at Université de Lorraine for the 2025 intake
- or to the 3rd year of one of the following engineering schools : EEIGM, ENIM, ENSAIA, ENSEM, ENSG, ENSGSI, ENSIC, ENSMN, POLYTECH NANCY, TELECOM NANCY, AgroParisTech, Georgia Tech Europe
- Commit to undertaking a final-year internship in one of the laboratories on the Lorraine research site.
Students enrolled in continuing education and apprentices are eligible for the excellence scholarship but are not eligible for the internship stipend they must complete.
Eligibility
Applications will be assessed according to the following criteria:
- Quality of the academic record
- Student’s motivation to pursue a research-oriented pathway
- Recommendation from the current programme director
A selection panel will assess applications and propose a ranking of shortlisted students.
How to apply
To apply, you must compile a file including:
- A detailed CV
- Transcripts for L3 and M1 (or equivalents)
- A motivation letter from the candidate expressing a strong interest in research
- A sworn statement committing to undertake a research internship within a laboratory on the Lorraine site
- One letter of recommendation and a supporting statement from the: master’s programme director; or the medicine track director; or the pharmacy track director; or the engineering school programme director.
Who to contact?
You must submit your file to your programme director. They will forward your application for the excellence scholarship.
Please note: only 1 file is accepted per master’s track, 1 per health degree track (medicine & pharmacy), and 1 per engineering school degree. Only complete applications will be reviewed.

- Evaluation of applications by the panel: 04/07/2024
The results of the call for applications will be communicated to Master/Engineering Degree programme directors by email no later than 11/07/2025.
