Undertake research abroad through international mobility.

International immersions and internship grants enabling a placement abroad : explore the international dimensions of research!

You will expand your network and meet other members of the ORION community while communicating in several languages.

Master Grants ORION

Are you a laboratory scientific lead and would like to host an international student for a research internship?

These grants are intended for international students wishing to undertake a Master 2 research stay in laboratories on the Lorraine site.

Applications are submitted by the research director of a laboratory on the Lorraine site and make it possible to host students from the laboratories’ established international partner institutions.

Funding

Master Grants funding includes :

  • A stipend for a 4-6-month internship of €1,000 per month;
  • Financial support of €1,000 for round-trip travel.

Selected candidates will receive a maximum allowance of €7,0001 and will benefit from the Welcome@Lorraine programme’s support for their arrival in France

 1 This lump-sum grant will be paid as follows: €1,000 upon presentation of the visa, then six payments of €1,000 in the months following the start of the work placement at Université de Lorraine in the case of a six-month internship.  

Timeline

First call :

  • Opening date of the call: 09/09/24
  • Closing date of the call: 08/11/24 at noon
  • Evaluation period: from 11/11/24 to 06/12/24
  • Results announced: by 20/12/24
  • Start of the stay: between January and April 2025
  • End of stay: before 31/08/25

Second call :

  • Opening date of the call: 03/03/25
  • Closing date of the call: 02/05/25 at noon
  • Evaluation period: from 05/05/25 to 06/06/25
  • Results announced: by 30/06/25
  • Start of the stay: from September 2025
  • End of stay: before 31/08/26

Application and selection

The application file must include:

  • A brief description of the nature, history and intensity of the partnership between the two teams involved
  • Proposed internship topic and details on supervisor(s), context, expected outcomes
  • CV, Master 1 and Master 2 transcripts, motivation letter, letters of recommendation, and any information deemed relevant to assess the quality of the proposed student’s application
  • A signed statement undertaking to mention the ORION programme in publications arising from the research stay
