Going to university is a major step for any student. All the more so if you have special needs connected with a disability.

In each university, the SHS (Student Health Service) provides medico-psychosocial support to all students in higher education (undergraduates and PhD students).

– A visa : gives you the right to enter France. It is delivered by the French Consulate in your usual country of residence.
– A residence permit : gives you the right to stay in France. It is delivered by the Prefecture of your place of residence in France.

Many French public services, such as the Préfecture, will request translations of your official documents (birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc). Here are lists of sworn translators.

For your daily and one-off journeys in the Grand Est, the Region provides you with transport services by regional coaches and trains. Special fares and subscriptions are available to students.

Lorraine is well served by trains and international flights.

In France, the registration fee rate for international students from countries oustide the European Union or outside the European Economic Area is set at national level for all universities. But each university may define its own policy on exemption from such tuition fees.

You’ve arrived in France with a VLS-TS, within the 3 months following your arrival, you must validate your visa in order to give it the full value of a residence permit.
