Research at the Université de Lorraine

The Université de Lorraine’s multidisciplinary research framework brings together some 3,900 researchers in 10 research centres. This fundamental and applied research is structured on 8 high-priority thematic areas that are at the heart of our region’s strengths:

  • Materials, chemistry, processes and products

With 1,800 doctoral students of 90 different nationalities, 8 doctoral schools

and 400 doctoral theses defended each year : the Université de Lorraine is at the forefront of international research.

The Université de Lorraine is a member of the Euraxess France association for international researchers. Its 2 Euraxess service centres provide support for doctoral students and international researchers: in Nancy (91 avenue de la Libération) and in Metz (Maison Grosser, Campus du Saulcy).

The Université de Lorraine was awarded the HRS4R label in 2017, renewed in 2023. This label guarantees researchers a working environment conducive to the conduct of research activities, support for mobility, career development, application of the principles of non-discrimination and ethics, etc.
