All PhD students enrolled at Université de Lorraine (UL) must pay their tuition fees each year, in addition to the CVEC (Contribution Vie Étudiante et de Campus, or Student and Campus Life Contribution).

How much are the tuition fees in PHD DEGREE at Université de Lorraine?
Tuition fees
In 2025-2026, tuition fees for PhD degree are set at €397.
Payment must be made online, following the instructions provided by your Doctoral School.
If you are unable to pay online, you can pay by credit card or by cheque to the UL accounting officer. To do so, please make an appointment with the Maison du Doctorat (My Doc’Door) of UL: drv-mdd-comm-contact@univ-lorraine.fr.
For cotutelle PhD students, tuition fees are payable at only one of the two institutions each year.
CVEC (Contribution Vie Etudiante et de Campus)
In 2025-2026, the CVEC is set at €105.
You can pay the Student and Campus Life Contribution (CVEC) online at cvec.etudiant.gouv.fr. Once you have paid them, you will be issued with a certificate of payment (“Attestation d’acquittement”), which you will have to upload in your ADUM (Accès Doctorat Unique Mutualisé) account, once you have created your personal account.
Some PhD students are exempt, subject to certain conditions. Please consult cvec.etudiant.gouv.fr for more information on these conditions, and to download your certificate of payment, required for your enrollment.
