An interdisciplinary approach through synthetic biology
For the first time, an ORION club is taking on the iGEM challenge : building a complete synthetic biology project, defending it before more than 400 expert judges at the Grand Jamboree in Paris – and why not winning a gold medal at the world’s largest competition in the field.
The team
- Farouk Abdo – PhD student, DynAMic
- Satya Marthi – PhD student, CRAN
- Prof. Patrick Sobetzko – Supervisor – DynAMic
- Dr. Julia Kacher – Supervisor – LPCT
Join us!
- Wet Lab: Modular cloning (MoClo) sessions, bacterial transformation, and characterisation of biological systems
- Dry Lab: Mathematical modelling, bioinformatics, and software tool development to support the project
- Human Practices: Ethical engagement with the public, experts, and stakeholders to ensure a responsible project
- Scientific poster: Designing a poster presenting the research, methods, and impact of the project at the Jamboree
- Fundraising: Seeking sponsors and applying to funding calls to finance the club’s activities
Whether you come from science, computing, design, management, or are simply curious, the ORION iGEM Lorraine club is a unique opportunity to create, learn, and innovate together on an international scale!
In practice
The main working language will be English, to prepare the team for the competition’s international environment. A supportive setting is in place to help everyone progress and build confidence – no prior level required.
- A weekly in-person meeting at the DynAMic laboratory
- A biweekly presentation of a past iGEM project
