Home insurance

You must provide the owner or manager of your accommodation (including for CROUS university residences) with your home insurance certificate before you are given the keys and can move into your accommodation. This insurance covers you financially in the event of fire, flood damage, burglary, etc. in your accommodation.

Multi-risk home insurance combines several insurances (e.g. personal third-party liability and home insurance). There are numerous combinations of basic and complementray insurances, depending on your needs and insurance companies.

If you live in a university residence or communal accommodation, we recommend that you take out a policy that covers theft, which is common in these types of accommodation.

Where and how to subscribe to these policies:

  • With a student insurance company: MGEL (Université de Lorraine partner) or ADH, whose online subscription procedure takes no time at all and is recommended by CROUS student residences.
  • Most banks also offer these types of policies. You can ask about them when you open your bank account.
  • The Feel-Français platform enables you to subscribe to their partner insurer Heyme directly via their platform.
