During these unprecedented times, the Lorraine Student Health Service (Service de Santé Étudiante) remains fully open and plays an important role for students by supporting you over the weeks and months to come. Medical and social measures are run remotely or in person.

medical appointments

Students can benefit from free, confidential appointments on Université de Lorraine sites through the SUMPPS. To get in touch with a healthcare professional (doctor, nurse, etc.) or social assistant, contact the nearest SUMPPS centre to your campus.


  • Health checkup

This is a systematic health checkup for the arts courses. Checkups are arranged on request and you will be welcomed and guided in emergencies. It is also an opportunity for you to check your overall health.

Metz: Open from 8 am to 12:30 pm and from 1 pm to 5 pm.

Nancy: By appointment

  • Gynaecology

The gynaecology unit can give you information and arrange gynaecological appointments. You can also renew your contraceptive pill prescription or organise for an initial contraceptive prescription or emergency contraception through them. Lastly, its team of family planning professionals is qualified to make pregnancy diagnoses, give you guidance about terminating a pregnancy (abortion) or direct you to other resource providers.

  • Nursing services

Our nurses can welcome you for appointments, including a general appraisal and biometric screening. They will listen to you and give you advice, information, guidance and documents. They can also perform nursing procedures such as prescribed treatments and welcome you for emergencies.

Metz: Open from 8 am to 12:30 pm and from 1 pm to 5 pm.

Nancy: Open from 8 am to 5 pm.

  • Nutrition

The Lorraine Student Health Service can give you advice about healthy eating, combining your diet with sport, eating on a budget and balanced diets for a healthy weight. Our professionals can also support you through changes in your living circumstances and arrange appointments to talk about food allergies and metabolic disorders.

  • Support for students with disabilities

Students with temporary or permanent disabilities can get support at the Lorraine Student Health Service. The measures taken with them in mind include: reasonable adjustments for exams and studies, as well as improving living conditions. You can find out more on the website handicap.univ-lorraine.

Nancy: By appointment at the Literature & Humanities Campus and Vélodrome centres

  • Addiction support & advice

The addiction support & advice unit organises appointments to help quit smoking and to support the withdrawal process (from alcohol, opioids or cannabis for example). The unit can also arrange one-to-one sessions with a doctor to prescribe anonymous screening tests for STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections) and AIDS in particular.

Metz: By appointment, with free, anonymous screening on Tuesdays from 1:30 pm to 4 pm

Nancy: By appointment at the Literature & Humanities Campus and Vélodrome centres

  • Mental health support

Staff at the Lorraine Student Health Service can give you advice and arrange specialist counselling with a psychologist or psychiatrist.

Metz: By appointment or at the Student Wellbeing Office (BAPÉ) by appointment

Nancy: By appointment at the Literature & Humanities Campus and Vélodrome Services

  • Vaccination

You will be able to check your vaccination schedule, get a booster jab for any compulsory vaccinations, any recommended vaccinations done and advice if travelling abroad.

Metz: By appointment from 8 am to 12:30 pm and from 1 pm to 5 pm

Nancy: By appointment
