Université de Lorraine endorses the European Charter for Researchers
Since December 2015, Université de Lorraine has upheld the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers through the “Human Resources Strategy for Researchers” (HRS4R) (in English from page 36). Adopted by the European Commission on 11 March 2005, this charter is a set of 40 general principles which specifies the roles, responsibilities and entitlements of researchers as well as of their employers, along with the principles likely to improve the working and recruitment conditions of researchers.
Université de lorraine’s commitments
The European “HR excellence” award recognises institutions that align with and implement the HRS4R principles. For researchers, it guarantees:
- a favourable working environment for conducting research,
- mobility grants,
- career advancement,
- the application of principles bearing on non-discrimination, ethics and so on.
It also calls for action on raising the profile, clarity and appeal of research at global level and in terms of rolling out assistance in securing European recognition and funding, such as through Horizon Europe or the European Research Council (ERC) programme, etc.
An effective “Human Resources” policy
The “HR excellence” award has prompted the University to conduct an open, transparent and merit-based recruitment (OTM-R) policy where researchers are concerned. In practice, this entails an action plan grounded in our core values: universality, creativity, reflexivity, solidarity and responsibility.
THE KEY STAGES IN THE CRAFTING OF THE “human resources” policy
Université de Lorraine’s HR policy fully resonates with the principles behind the European Research Area. This European award guarantees attractive working and recruitment conditions for researchers. It conforms to the highest European and international standards.
