A cutting-edge university meaningfully contributing to society

A cutting-edge university

Alongside its academic site partners, Université de Lorraine leads an Initiative d’Excellence programme which is developing a research and education strategy to build Lorraine’s international leadership on the key societal and economic challenges: energies of the future and energy transition, materials value chain, health and combatting age-related illnesses, digital trust, sustainable management of natural resources and the environment, knowledge and language engineering.

As a logical complement to this flagship programme for the development of the Lorraine academic site, two projects round off Université de Lorraine’s future-focused vision:

  • Orion, which is aimed at raising students’ awareness of and training them in research. Designed with progression in mind, from an introduction to research during the first few years right through to its application in practice, Orion also seeks to bring different groups, subjects and nationalities together. The site partners adopt an innovative and transformative approach to train students and prepare them to become future leaders on the basis of 3 pillars: research-led training, international focus and employability.
  • Sirius, which is aimed at enhancing and expanding its innovation strategy and therefore at improving the academic site’s social and economic impact, not least at local level. It also leads a programme to boost the international profile and image of the Lorraine site.
