Université de Lorraine supports projects seeking to develop student life particularly by strengthening the social fabric and nurturing ties between the various clubs and associations. In practice, this involves providing students with guidance, from setting up a project to fundraising, raising awareness of the regulatory and security requirements to making contact with partners.
A team available to support you
University staff encourage and support students who have ideas for initiatives contributing to a vibrant student life on campus:
- Within the academic departments, faculties and schools, to support the creation of clubs and provide common rooms and shared facilities.
- Within the Lorraine Nord and Lorraine Sud students’ unions (MDEs) which:
- host the student representative organisations,
- make their premises and equipment available for any event,
- put on a free training programme for club members,
- provide a service for supporting students’ aspirations and plans.
Funding dedicated to “Université de Lorraine” accredited clubs: the FSDIE
Any student club with “Asso UL” accreditation can benefit from domiciliation for postal purposes at the MDE and an office within its department, faculty or school, as well as funding.
The Student Initiative Development and Solidarity Fund (FSDIE) is an appropriation coming from a fraction of the Campus & Student Life Contribution (CVEC). The FSDIE only supports Student Initiatives, i.e. projects that are initiated, fronted and led by students. The fund also provides clubs with structural support, by awarding an annual equipment grant or operating grant. You can find out more, along with useful advice, on the dedicated platform.
Co-financing opportunities
Your projects must be co-financed by several bodies. In addition to revenues generated or participation expenses, you can find cofinancing from your department, faculty or school, or from outside the University.
Culture Actions WITH THE LORRAINE CROUS
Through the “Culture-Actions” fund, student clubs can benefit from financial support for their projects. Further assistance is available for the very best projects if they are selected for presentation before a National Commission. Applications are managed by the CROUS cultural service which you can email at: culture@crous-lorraine.fr

Grand-Est REGION GRANTS
The Region supports student initiatives in 2 main ways: promoting initiatives that celebrate the Region and its local areas, and supporting initiatives that help new students to feel at home here.

As well as among your local communities: your town, intermunicipal authority or département.
